[Nie Huaisang isn't one particularly inclined to go out of his way to help others unless there's something in it for him. For all his generosity with his good fortune, true altruism doesn't come to him naturally. So when he goes to the clinic, he's simply looking for supplies for himself in case he happens to need it. Neither his brother or his friends are here to protect or take care of him now so it's up to him to accomplish what he can on his own.
