Nick Valentine | Fallout

1. Arrival

[It happened very quickly. One minute Nick's leaning back in his chair, having a smoke, and the next he's falling over backwards on a carpeted floor of the cleanest house he's ever seen. So it's definitely not his Diamond City office anymore. Even Ellie's not this thorough.

Quick diagnostic. All cognitive functions operating as normal. So he's not just having an extremely realistic memory flash. Something happened.

The synth stands up, dusts off his ratty trenchcoat and extinguishes his cigarette in the palm of his skeletal hand. Don't want to be smoking in someone else's house. He originally plans just to look around the place and get his bearings, but he steps into the next room and someone is there.
]

Oh, excuse me. This your place?

2. Braving the Trail

["Don't look back?" Dire consequences? Yeah, no thanks. The view can't be THAT good. Besides, long lonely walks in the woods like this are a great way to get eaten by a yao guai.

Or at least those are Nick's initial thoughts. He's heading away from the trailhead to keep looking around when his audio sensors pick up a noise of distress a short ways down the path ahead.

Is someone in trouble?

Instantly, Nick's on his way. Extremely careful not to look back, he heads up the trail in search of the noise's source.

Ahead. Someone frozen and still in the path.
]

Hey. You all right?

3. It Arrives

[Kind of nice to see a regular goose for once. Radgeese are rarely encountered in the Commonwealth but they...

Mmm. What do you call a nightmare in somebody who can't sleep? Whatever it is, his are still vivid.

It's following him down the street as he continues his investigation of the town center.
]

Trying to look innocent, eh?

["Honk."]

Well, I know that look. What'd you do?

["Honk." Oh. There's something by its feet. A stolen object? Looks like something significant. Maybe somebody's looking for it.]

All right. Cough it up, pal.

[Pictured: a man-shaped robot having an argument with a goose.]

4. Network Confession

un: valentine

A functioning terminal network. Looks like we're really not in Kansas anymore.

The answer is, somewhere in Europe. Always wanted to know what that looks like now.

The question is, who wants to know and why?
